Topflight continues to develop and refine the art of helicopter mountain training with the latest technologies and resources. In the challenging mountain terrain, students gain respect for their limitations and those of their aircraft. A direct testament to the quality of their instructors and the professionalism of our maintenance team.
Topflight’s purpose built campus was designed to provide an exceptional learning environment. The facility includes classrooms with smart board technology combined with interactive tablets, a flight planning room and a lounge. This modern facility uses the latest in technology, including a geothermal heating and cooling system.
The school has trained thousands of military, police, corporate and civilian pilots from all over North America and around the world. Clients include the German Army, German Air Force, German Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Royal Norwegian Air Force and the Royal Danish Air Force, to name just a few.
Training Options include in-flight training provided at Topflight’s training facility in Penticton, BC and simulator training offered through Topflight at the Edmonton International Airport. Training can also be provided at customer facilities utilizing customer aircraft.
Located in Penticton, British Columbia, the school is within minutes of the mountain training area. The diverse terrain and variable winds of the Okanagan Valley and surrounding mountain areas and urban environments, provide flying challenges that are ideal for the study of advanced flying techniques and the mechanics of mountain winds and obstacle airflow ie: buildings.
All ground school courses, briefings and reviews are conducted by flight instructors using specifically developed training aids such as 3D models of terrain features and a digital mountain training manual which includes computer airflow simulation. Sessions are enhanced by the wealth of flying knowledge that instructors bring to the classroom.
